About Rainbow Day Nursery

Rainbow Day Nursery provides high quality childcare for babies and children between the ages of 3 months and five years. We have outstanding environments, both inside and out, including two gardens and a secure field to support learning, play and physical development. We encourage a ‘have a go’ attitude and celebrate not only a child’s achievement but also their efforts and perseverance as they learn new skills. We acknowledge that the experiences a child has in their formative, early years, are crucial to their future learning, development and life chances. Each child’s Key Person will get to know them very well, monitoring their care and progress as well as working closely with parents, families and other professionals to ensure the best possible start in life.

At Rainbow Day Nursery:

  • Everyone child is valued.
  • Children are nurtured to achieve their own, personal bests in every area.
  • Social, emotional and cultural values are promoted.
  • Successes are celebrated.
  • A ‘Key Person’ is assigned to each individual child to ensure that their learning and development programme is tailored to their individual needs and strengths.
  • Staff are highly qualified, consistent, committed and carefully selected so that the very best person is appointed to each role.
  • Nursery fees are extremely competitive, offering great value to parents.
  • Government funding for 15 or 30 hours of free childcare is accepted for eligible families subject, of course, to available spaces.

Healthy, Balanced Meals at the Nursery

At Rainbow Day Nursery, mealtimes are calm, sociable occasions that promote nice table manners and a sense of community. Our children are taught the importance of good hygiene routines, such as washing our hands before preparing, serving or eating food. Children are encouraged to make choices, try new foods, serve themselves and their peers and feed themselves using appropriate cutlery. Our pleasant mealtimes support developing social skills, self-awareness and growing independence.

Our meals are prepared on the premises, by trained professionals – the children, staff and parents regularly contribute to the menus with their favourite or cultural foods. We cater for individual dietary requirements, however, we do not provide halal meat.

Curriculum and Activities

In-line with the EYFS (2021), our children learn through a balance of child-initiated and adult-led activities and experiences. We embrace environments and learning that evolve from the interests and enquiries of each group of children. We have a curriculum, focused groups and bespoke learning programmes for each age/stage, with the flexibility that allows for the children’s own ideas and learning agendas. We regularly monitor every child’s progress in all areas; through discussions between their key person, parents and practitioners, a personalised plan is devised to highlight their next steps or any support needed.

Activities are set up to support learning objectives and to practise emerging skills. We aim to provide experiences that help children make sense of new knowledge or explore an idea. We regularly engage with our local community through outings to the shops, post-box, garden centre, park or simply a stroll in the fresh air. We also appreciate the benefits of a secure field where the children go on nature walks, have picnics, observe seasonal changes or just enjoy the freedom of a large, natural space.
